Homework

Please check your child's gold folder each night. Anything in the"Return to School" side should be returned; anything in the "Keep at Home" side should come out of the folder and stay home.

Assignment Book:

Please check your child's assignment book daily for important notes and remember to initial each night.

Please be sure to return your child's gold folder and

assignment book each day!

Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday unless otherwise noted.

Reading: Students should read for at least 10 minutes per night. That can include taking turns reading with you, you reading to them, or having your child read quietly to themselves.  Nightly reading is so important and while I know this can be hard to squeeze in every night, it can make such a huge impact!

Literacy: Homework will be assigned using our spelling, high-frequency, and vocabulary words.  A double-sided worksheet will come home on Monday and be due on Friday.  In addition to completing both sides of the worksheet, your child will be required to write 5 sentences.  Each sentence needs to include a word that is spelled with our spelling/phonics pattern for the week.  For example, if we are learning words with short vowels a/i, rather than pick 5 short a/i words from our spelling list, your child should try to come up with 5 different short a/i words to use in their sentences.  If your child has trouble coming up with their own words, they can use words provided on our spelling list.

Math: Math homework may consist of completing a sheet or activity from your child's Home Links book. Math homework may also include studying math facts and playing online games.

Completion of homework will be an important consideration for grading throughout the year! If for any reason you cannot get the homework completed, please send in a note and your child will not be penalized. I understand how busy life can get- just please keep me in the loop!

Snack:

Please be sure to send in one healthy snack with your child each day! Students will have a ten minute snack break so please send in a snack/drink that can be consumed in a short amount of time.
